There is currently a Paria Movie Set Reconstruction Project Fund Raiser taking place.

Sheldon Honey of Honey’s Jubilee grocery store presenting David and Marilyn DeVooght a check for $610 from a taco dinner that Honey’s had put together.

It has been almost one year since arsonists burned the reconstructed buildings at the Paria Movie Canyon to the ground. The Reconstruction of the Paria Movie Set is being met with great enthusiasm and support from the Managers of the GSENM, the Kane County Office of Tourism and the community. To provide security we are proposing a 6 unit campground near the site with a campground host. Dave has contacted the Kane County Building Inspector and recommendations have been made by Tom Avant, Engineer for Thebeau Construction on reinforcing the foundation to meet code. The community needs a set that can be used for actual movies, Robert Houston has agreed to organize the volunteer work force and Dennis Judd has agreed to help any way he can. Dave DeVooght has proposed 6 buildings, three of which will be on skids so they can be moved on site. The film commission has recently been contacted to do a movie at the Paria Set, but the county could not offer a usable set.

Contributions can be made to Paria Movie Set Reconstruction Fund at Zions Bank, 41 E. Center Street, Kanab, Utah 84741 or Paria Movie Set Reconstruction Fund, 515 S. 475 E. Kanab, Utah 84741.

Rural outdoors recreation wilderness area in Northern Arizona is a 294,000-acre monument which includes the Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes and Paria Canyon. The Vermilion cliffs also extend into Southern Utah and are not far from Kanab, Utah. Close by is The Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park as well as GSENM, the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.

Southern Utah and Northern Arizona can be very, very remote areas and much caution should be used in planing and researching an adventure into these areas. Cell phones may not work, lots of water and provisions should be planned for. Very sandy roads could be encountered with expensive tow truck bills if required. There are many travel providers located in this area and a guide and advice is recommended.

This website at vermiliontours.com is available for trip reports and information that you may wish to provide. In addition the outdoor recreation message boards at AdventureZoneTOURS
is asking people to post data, photos and information they have to share.

In addition travel partners are invited.

Travel Web site Focuses on Back Country, USA
Links up Adventure Travelers with Rural Venues

Cedar City, UT - Most travel Web sites focus on the large metro areas in the United States. Get to rural Maine, Utah, etc. and you’re on your own. Thousands of small business owners are located near wilderness areas and many of them either don’t have Web sites or are difficult to find in search engines.

Now, a unique web site lists rural travel suppliers, motels, camps, lodges, bike paths, ATV sites, fishing guides, tours, etc. all in one database. AdventureZoneTOURS is unique in that it offers posts about all the National Parks, State Parks, National Monuments and Wilderness Areas in one place. AdventureZoneTOURS allows adventure travelers to plan their entire trip all in one action. No more clicking and searching all around.

For Travelers: Outdoor Recreation Message Board

The site’s Outdoor Recreation Message Board lists the states, separated into travel region message boards where people can see the outdoor public land areas available with map, information, stories, photos and over 4,000 posts. There are park maps, webcams, directions and a search to located accommodations and activity providers in that state region.

Social Networking for Wilderness Areas, Parks, Monuments and Outdoors Recreation

Travel partners are invited to become part of the rural reservations booking engine that has just been launched. Its social networking message boards are geared towards all four seasons.

Accommodations and Activities suppliers need only to visit http://www.adventurezonetours.com and click on the link at the top that says Travel Partners. The database is set up for most accommodations suppliers like motels, camps, lodges, campgrounds, etc. The activities database is set up for ATV, horses, hiking, tours, winter, water, rentals and more.

This remote and unspoiled, 294,000-acre Vermilion Cliffs National Monument is a geologic treasure, containing Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes and Paria Canyon. Elevations range from 3,100 to 6,500 feet. The monument is located along the Arizona Strip, and the southern border of Utah. It can be great family fun to enjoy time doing vermiliontours as an Adventure location for you to explore!

Visiting Utah can be quite an experience! If you’ve heard about slot canyons and canyoneering, then you’ve probably read about southern Utah. The major airports to fly into the region are normally Las Vegas for southern Utah or Salt Lake City for northern Utah. Researching your trip normally means selecting your areas of interest from the following regions.

The Vermilion Cliffs area can be accessed from Southern Utah, or Northern Arizona. It is vast and very diverse. Some of the activities people enjoy are:

Traveling here you’ll find 12th century Anasazi remains in the canyons. The monument is home to Buckskin Gulch, the longest slot canyon in the Southwest, followed by the lower Paria River Gorge, which is a deep, watery canyon that is as beautiful as canyons in Zion National Park. The monument has The Chinle Formation, as well as The Coyote Buttes on the southern portion of the Coxcomb Ridge. The Wave is becoming well known and has been featured in National publications recently.

Touring this area, you will see the Virgin Anticline, a large, asymmetrical, descending anticline or “hump” in the earth. Both St. George and Hurricane, Utah areas show evidence of past volcanic activity, in the form of cinder cones, and basalt flows.

Embarking from the spectacular Virgin River Gorge, south of St. George, Utah, you can follow 277 miles of paved highways winding through small rural communities to the Navajo Indian Reservation on the east. Scenic overlooks and historic and prehistoric sites along the highways convey various aspects of exploration and survival in this remote region. The Vermilion Cliffs Highways traverse some of the most vast and picturesque landscapes in the West. In many cases, the highways follow historic transportation routes used for centuries by different cultures from American Indian tribes, Spanish explorers and pioneers to modern travelers.
